2015 Ballarat Heritage Awards

The 2015 Ballarat Heritage Awards were held at the Ballaarat Mechanics Institute on Tuesday 5th May, 2015 hosted by Dominic Brine from ABC (Ballarat & South West Victoria).

The awards are held by the City of Ballarat in partnership with The National Trust (Ballarat Branch) and were launched by Cr John Philips, Mayor, City of Ballarat.

Ray White Ballarat Director, Phillip Lee was pleased to be invited to be a judge again this year and judged the New Work/Development Within A Heritage Area award with Brian Benson, the City of Ballarat’s Heritage Architect Planner.

The winners of the various awards are:-

Adaptive Reuse Of A Heritage Place: Winner – The Old Butchers Shop, 112 Seymour Street, Soldiers Hill. Special Commendation – Suttons House of Music, 31 Sturt Street, Ballarat.

New Work/Development Within A Heritage Area: Winner – 143 Wendouree Parade, Lake Wendouree

Conservation Of A Heritage Place or Historic Collection (Private): Winner – 23 Victoria Avenue, Lake Wendouree. Special Commendation – The Provincial, 121 Lydiard Street North, Ballarat.

Conservation Of A Heritage Place or Historic Collection (Community): Winner – Arch of Victory/Avenue of Honour Committee. Special Commendation – Friends of the Anson Air Museum, Airport Road, Ballarat.

Specialist Heritage Skills: Joint winners Clare Gervasoni (History & Heritage) & P & M Attwood Pty Ltd (Heritage Trades).

Heritage Innovation: Winner – Living Heritage:Trades & Traditions (FUA Arts Academy)

Greg Binns Award For Outstanding Community Contribution To A Heritage Place: Winner – Lucas Past Employees Association.
