Each year the Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast hold their annual smoke detector battery changing service and this year it was held on the weekend of 20th & 21st April, 2013.
The program is designed in co-operation with City of Ballarat to assist elderly people who are part of the City’s Home and Community Care Service to changeover their smoke detector batteries once a year.
For many years Ray White Ballarat has acted as the registration point for people to register for the free service. The reception staff at Ray White Ballarat have been very busy over the last month taking calls from over 100 elderly people and arranging a time for Rotarians to visit their homes.
Rotarians collected their team sheets and batteries from the Ray White Ballarat office prior to the weekend with the final result being Rotarians visited 104 homes and changed 185 batteries.
Congratulations to the members of the Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast for providing this valuable and needed service to the elderly in our community. Keith Driscoll (pictured above) is one of the many members that assists with changing the batteries.
