Tender Brings Record Price For Dean Spud Acres

Ray White Rural Ballarat successfully sold 84.46 Acres (34.18Ha) at 255 Mollongghip-Dean Road, Dean by tender on Friday 23rd May, 2013 for what is believed to be a record price for the district.

Enjoying the same family ownership for in excess of 95 years, the sale of this productive irrigation allotment represented a once in a generational opportunity to secure land in the tightly held and highly regarded potato production area of Dean.

Ray White Rural Ballarat Manager Josh Todd said the property had been submitted to the market twice previously by other agents without success and he had marketed the property widely in the Weekly Times, local print media and digitally across many websites which resulted in numerous tenders being received.

Incorporating rich chocolate volcanic soils, a 66 mega litre pumping licence from Birch Creek and three large irrigation dams the property has been sown to Lucerne for the past 7 years and was now fresh and ripe for more intensive agricultural pursuits such as potatoes, pyrethrum, fodder production or fattening.
